Simple Minds in their big "5X5 Live" tour at the Tonhalle

Presented on 21/08/2012 Rockantenne a special treat at the Tonhalle in Munich, for the Scottish band Simple Minds comes as part of their big "5X5 Live" tour for an evening visit to the Bavarian capital. Even before the big international success with the hit single "Do not You (Forget About Me)" (1985) and the subsequent albums "Once Upon A Time" and "Street Fighting Years" Simple Minds released five increasingly successful albums. These well established 1979-1982 LPs documenting the band's development from punk, avant-garde electronics of different styles of new wave and pop.
In February, these first five drives in the new Boxset "X5" appeared on six CDs. Specifically, these include the debut "Life In A Day" (1979), which later that year released album "Real To Real Cacophony ',' Empires And Dance" (1980), the double album "Sons And Fascination / Sister Feelings Call" (1981) and "New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84)" (1982). The discs each contain bonus material including rare and previously unavailable b-sides, live recordings and remixes.
Produced by John Leckie debut album "Life In A Day" varied between punk, glam-rock-bonds and the first New Wave sounds. Slightly more than six months later appeared already "Real To Real Cacophony". The sound was far more innovative and electronic with a gloomy mood. With her German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk of the New! and experimental New Wave-inspired third album "Empires And Dance" Simple Minds were ahead of their time.
Nevertheless, the formation separated from her former label to sign with Virgin Records into a new contract. For the subsequent double album "Sons And Fascination / Sister Feelings Call", the band hired a new producer, Steve Hillage. The album, which was partly published separately as two LPs with different covers spanning the range from the sound of the previous publications on atmospheric soundscapes through to New Wave rock and pop. With the single "Love Songs" also managed a first hit. "New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84)" was the transition to the future success of the Scottish band sound. This album contained three successful singles: "Promised You A Miracle", "Glittering Prize" and "Someone, Somewhere (In Summertime)".

What Simple Minds fans will be pleased to know on the "5X5 Live" tour are the two founding members Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (guitar) of the party.

Plunging into the darkness with Julia Stone

Today is the day that has been put on sale the new album from Julia Stone in Spain and in half of Europe. The compact, entitled "By The Horns", contains ten tracks among which we find 'It's All Okay "or" Let's Forget All The Things That We Say', delicate pieces that we discussed at the time and showing us the sober pop Angus's sister. To whet your appetite ahead of what awaits us here we leave you with the music video for 'By The Horns' latest single from this latest release.

This audiovisual production, which was directed by Jessie Hill, introduces us to the dark and fictional world in which the soul of Julia Stone remains captive. More than a Clip 'By The Horns' seems a small representation of a fairy tale, with snakes, princesses dressed in pristine white and some other being from another dimension.

Last week we made a couple of tracks from "Broken Brights" Angus Stone so today will be the turn of the new Julia. Maybe the Primavera Sound 2012 is just around the corner but we continue here, listening and re-listening to records and give us some criticism / review before the start of the festival.Stay tuned!

The Haxan Cloak: Mystery Noir

With a fine feeling for aesthetics and dramaturgy scouts from the self-titled debut album from THE CLOAK HAXAN mystical and occult soundscapes. Between the low bubbling frequencies of SUNN O))) and the noir Ambienzen from Erik Skodvins Miasmah mysterious realm of shadows, sound designer Bobby Krlic digs a deep black hole. From screeching strings, booming Sythies, handmade percussion, vocals and eerie creaking of the London Field Recordings creates his finely crafted, abstract, hallucinatory, nightmarish stories.

Liz Phair, the limit of the law in the video for "And She Slayed Her '

I feel a certain devotion to the topics which directly or indirectly refer to the discography of Sheryl Crow. It innevitable: I put that song reminds me of Tejano song that I just hooked. This factor X (determined largely by the disk of the "Globe Sessions" I left my sister when I was a kid) has led me to feel some attachment to "And She Slayed Her ', the subject of Liz Phair now has an entertaining - and slightly transgressive - video clip.

In this production we found driving a beautiful sports Phair. Always on the edge of the law, the iconic blonde artist dodge the police to stop torturing its way to a guy carrying in the trunk. Do not know about you but to me this clip of 'She And Her Slayed' reminds me of the feeling that was conveyed in the film "Thelma & Louise," which starred Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis.

Discovering the acoustic side of St. Lucia

After enjoying the monumental pieces that make up "St. Lucia EP "I created a doubt in my mind: how could Jean be able to move this topic to a close and intimate format? The answer to this question is found in various acoustic versions of "Closer Than This" and "Before The Dive 'that St. Lucia has been made in different parts of the globe, and since right now we hear with the thousand and one wonders YouTube.

Closer Than This:

Interpreted in a hotel, in a Jaguar and living in a home that could be the Jean-Philip. All three have a special point but all I prefer the latter. The inclusion of the piano as a resource addition is perfectly shaped to round off the sound of this beautiful piece that has been praised more than a follower of this modest musical web.

Before The Dive:

Two versions made in two places as disparate as the New Yorker and the cold coast of Brighton beach. Great views exponent to maximize the joy caused by this single brings us dazzling since late last week. 'Before The Dive "(" Before the dive "), more than ever.

Nirvana - Live At The Paramount

One of the things I like to do when I'm bored by the network is to seek full concert of some of my favorite bands. One of the last I've found is the "Live at the Paramount" reproducing the great concert that members of Nirvana performed at the Paramount Theater in Seattle on October 31, 1991. Kurt Cobain and his two faithful squires - Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic - drive 1 hour and 10 minutes of pure rock with great songs of the caliber of 'Drain You', 'Polly' and 'Breed'.

If you are thinking to make you a physical copy of this live I highly recommend you do it through Play.com. Comparing prices I have seen the Bluray (21.59 euros) and DVD (16.45) are the cheapest out there. Even so there may be some other site that offers a lower price so that if you find, I appreciate compromises outrageous that in this post. So we can all enjoy in our homes to the greatness of Nirvana without it hurts your pocket.

Filtered two demos alternatives "One By One" by Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters in 2002 recorded a version of "One By One" totally different from what was published at the time. It was not his best season: Dave Grohl and his companions used to be angry every now and the band itself was just a step apart. Fortunately, alternative rock kings agreed and managed to pull forward. That's why today we can enjoy a degree of nostalgia the alternatives give two themes of this old LP: 'Have It All' and 'Come Back'.

It is creating a difference of opinion as to whether these early versions were better finally presented to the subjects.

Flamenco, Roma and Sinti Swing lyrics

A whole new kind of representation of their "gypsy life" have found three musicians who perform in the coming days as part of the series "Voices of the Roma."

The singer Segundo Falcon and his guitarist Paco Jarana be on Thursday, May 10, formed by 20 clock in the black box in the Gasteig opener. The duo will perform a special form of flamenco, the "cante jondo", a very deep kind of sung, whose texts until the 16th Century back. St. Lucia - St. Lucia EP

"St. Lucia is what happens when the long and desolate winter in New York disappears to give way to an emerging summer is to give life to the memories of childhood holidays are disappearing photos of exotic places and recapture the dream ... "I think there is no better way to describe the sound of St. Lucia that referencing the text written by Jean-Philip Grobler in his official Facebook page. Discover just a week ago this musical phenomenon has been like discovering opium, from the moment we discovered we could not stop listening repeatedly to the most synth pop (and even some African pop with a touch!) That make EPS one of the most promising emerging international landscape.

I find it frankly amazing that a single artist (Jean-Philip Grobler is the only "master mind" behind this EP) has managed to carve out a sound so detailed as described in "St. Lucia EP ". Just need to give some listening to 'We Got It Wrong' to understand the multi-instrumentalist from New York knows how to get to finger some of the most critical moments of one of the greatest of the genre: M83. Jean seems to have no limits: despite the riskiness of its proposal or 'Before The Dive' (born to be the greatest single of all EP) or 'Closer Than This "are imperfect moments. And mention should be 'All Eyes On You', an extremely addictive tribute to the 80 that have a conspicuously inesperadísimo - sweet! - Jazz solo in the end.

For some time he needed to find an album like this. Fresh, precious and limitless. Jean-Philip has managed Hajar in "St. Lucia EP "the cardinal points which best define a genre that seems to be rising again. That streak will not stop.

The Neighbourhood: impact from scratch

More than one and two shall strike me as crazy for putting The Neighbourhood in this section of "Promises". This reaction is entirely logical: the only California in the network presented a couple of issues. In a normal case would be talking about a small group that has released an LP, or maybe at most an EP ... but with these guys I have been forced to make an exception. Why? Very simple: for 'Sweater Weather' and 'Female Robbery', which I discovered thanks to my friend Marta (greetings ugly!) Were born as two brilliant advances of a promising career that could begin to dilate from 7 May , when it will release its debut EP.

The Cali quintet has found the right balance between hip hop and indie rock. Great merit of this is organic paragraph have both the instrumental and the work of frontman Jesse James Rutherford who can adapt like a chameleon to noticeable changes in perceived rate at various times, mainly from those exhibited at the future hit titled "Sweater Weather '. If you will touch the pop mainstream with a dressing to the hip hop you can not miss the opportunity to hear them. The idea that sticking strong to the end of 2012 is not far from an idea out of place. Talent these Americans have for a while.
