The Galerie Martin Mertens presents an art exhibition on the works of Santiago YdáñezUnter the slogan 'Blind Beauty' Galerie Martin Mertens presented in the period from 15.03. 5/5/2012 to her second solo exhibition, which this time is devoted entirely to the work of Spanish artist Santiago Ydáñez. The exhibition presents new images from the extensive work of Ydáñez and gathered paintings from the various work groups that characterize his work.
Ydáñez was born in 1969 and his visual cosmos springs from his personal memories of childhood, grew up in a small Spanish village, surrounded by statues of saints and influenced by his father, who was a hunter. Therefore, animals populate his works again and again. Often there are domesticated animals such as budgerigars, cats, dogs, horses or just a red shrimp on a white background.

Ydáñez act 'animal images such as a reduction of lush flora and fruit still lifes of the European Baroque, which already appear in some of these Spanish, Italian and Dutch old master individual animals as a full subject.
