Has begun the history of this festival, event and for many artists, a "family meeting", in the former "tube" of the Einstein-cultural center. For those who do not know that the old cellars of Unionsbräus in Einstein street in Munich.
Shortly after the opening of this conference rooms and a visit of the then sparsely attended events, one of the leaders had thus thrown in the round, what do they could to attract more visitors. Messrs. Volker drum Niel Mitra and Stefan Holm eggs thought then that scene would be even invited, that would be to do it. Was completely unspectacular "Digital Analog I" was born. Names like Richard Bartz, Zombie Nation, Ernst Horn were on the line-up and the visitors came.
So numerous, that now a second event was planned for half a year later. That was the time at which more organization was needed and that's why I was invited to the planning team, so far I just switched over my contacts from the former field of work Gigolo Records artists to the festival.
The second festival was a success - 3 days in 3 halls (46 live acts + VJ). For us organizers too much. It was and is a festival that is organized by us, the leaders in our spare time. Volker Rommel and Niel Mitra left due to time constraints, the design team and we decided from then on, rather than once a year to implement an event of this magnitude.
The structural changes (noise of the local residents) forced us back then, the rooms of the "Einstein" to quit and we made an excursion into the club world with our guests, the "Harry Klein". Also here were our visitors.
We went further, however, the next stop was the 'Art arcade', so small that we employed its own doorman, who had to tell the visitors when they should come back to gain entry. Even with these "conditions" were our guests along well.
But now it was clear we needed more room. At that time, was being planned, the "Schrannenhalle" and we were interested in very strong evidence to present in this new central venue as one of the first exceptional event. Back then it was not clear when the building was planned, which would end their development. During the first inspection the hall was completely empty and we liked in their very simplicity, no trace of commercialism. We were among the first victims of the very special event policy of the operator. Because with our current events and free admission to our program has already collected on the entrance door to the basement club located entrance fees. It turned out that there was a double booking for the basement - to make matters worse, one of our artists has been turned off during the live presentation of the current. Then it was clear to us that a second day there was not eligible.
In a spectacular operation in the event the "Red Sun" was published, the operators learned early on the morning of the events in the Schrannenhalle and then gefolgten cancellation and offered to spontaneously move their planned program back to us and to make room. There were radio announcements by pointing out that the second day was moved into the digital analog red sun. In addition, the news spread like wildfire, even to start of the event and the room filled from 22.00 clock were queuing at the entrance.
The hardest by far the festival was the same thereafter in the House of Art - "Terrace Room" near the P1. For all the technology had to be carted. With incredible manpower, we were able to create everything in a timely manner. The acoustics made it not easy for us, through the monument, we were not only attached needle, etc. on the walls. The view at night in the English Garden in Early Lung balmy air we made up for it.
After this time it was clear to us: For the current number of visitors we need a bigger venue. At the press conference for "digital analog 5 1/2" (in the House of Art) was among others Also, an employee of the Gasteig, who said at the time, why not organize time there. Following discussions with the Department of Culture and the city councils and anchor Dr. Richard Quaas, funding was secured, and the first time in Gasteig took place.
For us it was not clear from the outset how the artist can get used to this new venue, as the long-established clientele, visitors cope with "digital analog" and not least how we would take the house.
The artists were more than enthusiastic about the technical possibilities, a place that was built for music has always been. For us, it is the best technique we've ever had. For this first time, our new "home base" was in 2012 for the 6th Gasteig time.
Addition was at two years (2009 and 2010) presents a special children's program in the afternoon, hopefully we can establish in the future as a permanent institution.
Currently, in the Munich suburb, the children from the program developed Kidz workshops for creativity (music, dance, smell, comics, photography, fashion, etc.) organized - kidz.digitalanalog.org.
In the many years that we call "digital analog" hold on, there is a small team has great together. Every year it's beautiful, exhausting, and occasionally suspenseful, but no one wants us to miss it.
Most diverse music, video art, performances, readings, presentations are created every year and will tremble if the budget can be collected.
Special thanks go to all the volunteers, staff, our sponsors and partners, without whom there would not be done.
